Sorry, Charlie

Posted by megisblogging Posted on: 07/17/09

Sorry, Charlie

Where's last night's articles????

Yeah, that's what I was screaming last night when I tried to publish the write ups about BB and SYTYCD and they disappeared. It wasn't the site's fault they disappeared - I had a bit of a hickup with my firefox rebooting. BUT, if it had the ability to save a draft I wouldn't have lost everything.

Sooo, instead of getting all riled up about it happening again I'm going to have to move to a blog site that let's me save drafts. It just takes too long to write up an article to have it get lost.

I love the community here though so I won't be gone completely, just the blog itself will be moved over to blogger @ http://megs-itismyworld.blogspot.com/ which is my older blog that I've been ignoring. I hope you take a chance to visit me and there is a rss feed so you can get it delivered to a feed reader if you'd like.

I'll start writting again on Sunday - maybe before that, but probably not. :)

SYTYCD - The Top Ten Dance

SYTYCD - The Top Ten Dance

Sorry guys, I had a bad day at work and just don't have the energy left to write up SYTYCD tonight.

I will be sure to play-by-play both BB & SYTYCD tomorrow night - no matter what happens!

Big Brother POV 1

Posted by megisblogging Posted on: 07/14/09

Big Brother POV 1

Sorry, but my computer battery is running low so I had go to plug it in - in the other room. So, I wasn't be able to do a running commentary tonight. But here's a short synopsis of what went down.

Reaction to the nominations - Lydia bawled. Chima is a pawn.
Ronnie says he's the "National Champion of Persuasive Speaking" to Chima as a way to say he's on her side (I'm betting it's a lie).
Laura, who isn't even nominated, whines about being singled out because she has huge boobs. Um, girlfriend - isn't that why you got them? God knows you didn't get them to blend in.

Russell, Jessie and Natalie pull Laura into their alliance.

Braden is also a weirdo according to the montage BB showed.

Veto players are picked while a very bored and put out sounding Jessie reads the paper. Who was picked:
Lydia - Jeff
Chima - HG Choice, Natalie
Jessie - Russell

Veto Comp - disgusting popping zits to find letters comp. Supposedly it's supposed to represent that what's inside a person that counts. It was gross. Whoever spelled the longest word won - which was Russell with shotgun. Jessie misspelled his word. Natalie spelled 'last'. Jeff threw it with 'tectronics' and both Lydia and Chima went for long words, but didn't get all the letters they needed.

Lydia is bummed, but "will do whatever it takes to get off the block and stay in the house".

Jeff is pissing off the rest of his clique by spending time with Jordan and not "being on their side". So, Russell goes after him (they didn't show this on the episode, but this was planned by Jessie, Natalie & Russell). After Russell leaves Jeff starts in with Natalie, who encouraged it and blew up on him.

Lydia is shown being friendlier with Russell. And selling Braden out while Russell kinda sold Natalie & Jessie out just a little bit.

Lydia, Natalie and Jessie have it out. Again she turns things onto Braden.

A new plan is hatched between Jessie, Nat & Russ. Lydia is coming off the block. Braden is going up - and out.

The next day Russ brings it to Ronnie who agrees to the new plan to Russ. Then went and spread his particular brand of poison by telling everyone what' going to happen - specifically telling Jeff, Jordan & Braden. Russ puts 2 & 2 together and calls out Ronnie on it. Ronnie denies it, but Russ knows he's lying and tells Jessie.

Veto ceremony, Ronnie's nervous but Russ & Jessie follows the Braden plan. Lydia is safe (yea!) and Braden is up on the block.

Parting thoughts - I'm glad Lydia is safe. And I'm good with either Braden or Chima going home - but I'd prefer Braden.

What did you think of tonight's episode? Predictions for Thursday's eviction?

Road Trippin' and Bourdain ahh, Tuesdays off are good

Posted by megisblogging Posted on: 07/14/09

Road Trippin' and Bourdain ahh, Tuesdays off are good

So, having the day off is helping me keep up to date on my tv watching...don't get used to it folks, normally I'm a few days behind (gotta love the DVR!).

First up I caught myself up on the Great American Road Trip show. And this show sure is a trip (bah-dum-bump).
This week the families left St Louis and headed down route 66 to get some frozen custard and then on to spelunking in the Meramec caverns.

Okay, so before we go further, this family from Yonkers, NY - the DiSalvatores. OMG, the father is on a permanent trip I think.
And the mother from the Pollard family - whooooie she's ON all the time.
The rest of the families, the Ricos, Montgomerys, Favereys and the Cootes are all more "normal" seeming.

What I enjoy about this show is that the families are getting a family experience on this trip, not just filming event to event. They get a chance to fish, camp, get custard, interact, etc. It's not all about the end, it's about the journey.

Back to last night's episode - the families are getting a chance to perform in Branson, MO and will be judged by some Branson stars.

The DiSalvatore's went first and did a rap. Sort of. The dad, Silvio, actually did the best.
The Ricos went next and did a skit about the road trip. It was cute. And the judges seemed to enjoy it also.
The Pollards went third. And well. Hmm, how to explain this. They said it was a South Alabama Hoedown. But all it really was, was singing Old MacDonald. The judges seemed to like it though.
And next up was the Montgomerys. It was a combo of a rap, steppin', the kids playing their instuments and almost a skit. It was odd, but I like this family so I hope it turns out in their favor.
Up fifth was the Favereys who did a Partridge family type of performance. I think it was supposed to be 80s band though. Again, I like this family, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Last up was the Cootes who performed a rap. Unlike the DiSalvatore's their rap was good. And they added a cheer at the end - with the dad in a cheer costume and all.

And the bottom three are... Montgomerys, DiSalvatores & Favereys. BUT there is not an elimination this week. Whew!
The 'King of the Road' challenge was won by the Pollard family as the winners of the Branson performances.

The next challenge is being played by the top three families, Pollards, Ricos and Cootes in Carthage, MO at one of the last drive in theaters to win a trip to Hollywood to attend a movie premier. There were all these gorgeous vintage cars parked and the kids got to tell the dad's what to do in this race to get through the cars to the concession stand and back. Oh, and the dad's were blindfolded other than little lights telling them where to go (kids enter it through a remote control).
As one kid put it "it's like human pinball".
The thing that made me giggle the most was a mom waving her husband home silently.
Hi, blindfolded.

And the winner was the Cootes, by just a hair.

This is such a sweet and easy show to watch.

***********************************************
The next show I watched was Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations. Chile is the place of review this week.
Since you haven't known me long I should explain. I find Anthony Bourdain so freakin' sexy. It's his mind I'm attracted to. Really, it is.
Back to business. We hear a bit about Chile's history and then we go to the first restaurant and Anthony gets his first bite of pork for this episode in the form of a huge, gorgeous, sandwhich (sorry, I couldn't catch the name well enough to hazzard a guess at the spelling).
Next up we head out for coffee in the city of Santiago served by a beautiful woman in stilettos. Wow, this coffee house does not have the typical tattoo'd barrista we find around here. Anthony's first snarky line of the show "A little fetishness with your coffee? No. Thank you."
Annnd, more pork. So far nothing that makes me go OMG! They eat that??? But you know as well as I do - it's coming.
Ohh, they have a before meal drink called an earthquake - white wine and pineapple ice cream. Sounds and looks very yummy.
The meal arrives and there's blood sausage. Some may find this OMG worthy, but to me it's no longer shocking. I've even eaten some in my past...but that's off topic and I need to stay on topic with this show. :P
Coming up - - -rodeo. Did you know it's the number 2 most popular spectator sport in Chile. Me neither, but we both do now.
This rodeo is in the wine country of Chile. And looks more like a Polo match in the Hamptons than a rodeo to this midwesterner. Until the rodeo actually starts when I start thinking like the girly girl I can be - oh the poor cow!
I'm glad that commercial came. And went.
We come back to the local open air farm market. After looking at the beautiful fruit & veg we see them go for some Soppapillas (spelling?) and hoof soup.
What! Hoof soup? on the OMG scale I suppose it's more of a oh goodness, than a OMG.
They also get some deep fried chitlins. Again, not high on the OMG scale anymore.
After some lovely scenery and conversation we find out we're headed to the coast next.
And the largest weiner I've ever seen. Hot dog weiners you naughty reader, you. It's 12 inches long and covered with saurkraut, pickles, tomato, guac and mayo. Makes me a little nauseous to think about it. And it's called the completo (complete).
Seafood time! You know, because once you eat a giant dog you want seafood. Right? lol... Not having eaten the hot dog concoction I find the seafood quite appetizing looking. Very fresh and the presentation definitely does it justice.
And to top off the evening they head to an old sailor bar for a pisco (sp?) sour. Again, a beautiful looking drink.
Next up? Patagonia. With more fantastic scenery that causes me to long to pack up my camera and buy a plane ticket and we're introduced to a couple of ex-patriot ex-hippies running an eco-friendly resort on the edge of the coast. It certainly looks like this foodie-photographer-wannabe traveler's paradise.
I'd have felt that it was a full episode had they stopped there, but this being Chile there's more to see. Like the mountains/volcanos. So off Anthony goes to see them. And it's a very Germain looking area, architectually speaking. And after a (just short of) obscene amount of fresh seafood is eaten and discussed the show ends.
And I'm satisfied...and longing for some white wine with pineapple ice cream. I wonder if sherbet would suffice?

Prepping for BB#11 tonight

Posted by megisblogging Posted on: 07/14/09

Prepping for BB#11 tonight

Okeydokers, so we're approaching the POV night of BB and I haven't yet shared with you my impressions of each houseguest:

Braden - I don't know if you've heard about or seen his foul mouth, but this kid is a racist jack ass. Bye-bye can't come fast enough.

Casey - I wonder if this guy thinks he's the next Mike "Boogie"? He certainly reminds me of him. And for me that is NOT a compliment. There are times though that he has made a good impression on me. I'm not in a rush to see Casey leave, but at the same time I don't want to be watching him for the whole season.

Chima - One of the nominated HG's. And as far as I'm concerned she can be the one to go. She doesn't seem to add anything to the entertainment. She seems to only mope around or talk about the famous people she's met. BOR-ING

Jeff - I like Jeff. He seems like a real down to earth kind of guy. He sticks up for what he believes in and still can bring the entertainment and have fun. I wouldn't mind watching his cute face the whole season.

Jessie - Egomaniac. I didn't like him last year. Why would I like him this year? I don't. Enough said.

Jordan - I'm not yet decided on Miss Jordan yet. She's spent most of the last week only talking to Jeff & Braden or sleeping. But then last night she relaxed a bit and was really funny and fun to watch interact. I'm going to hazard a guess and say I want her to stick around a little bit.

Kevin - I like Kevin. Kevin stays. And I think he may actually do that for a while - he's playing pretty smart so far. Sticking up for himself when called out, but not getting into the fray of most everything else and staying quiet and listening.

Laura - Boobs. That's what she's got. She's nicer than expected, but really that's about it. She can go, I'm not too impressed.

Lydia - I love Lydia. She's not playing the smartest, but I am enjoying watching her antics. She is one of the nominees that were put up on Sunday's episode.

Michelle - I did not like Michelle at the beginning, but like Jordan, she has come out of her shell in the last few days. I think she's playing smarter than I'd realized. She took the time to get a good feeling on everyone and then she's letting her personality shine in the ways that will encourage people to keep her around. Smart girl - and not just because she's a doctor!

Natalie - Oh jeez. Natalie has some secrets and lies going on. She's an Olympic athelete, but hasn't told anyone she's plays a sport. She's really in her 20s, but said she's 18. And she is stuck to Jessie like super glue. Girl is not playing smart.

Ronnie - Ugh. Ronnie had potential in the beginning, but he's been playing too  hard and the rest of the HGs are seeing it now. Ronnie could be brought along for a little while, but I don't imagine him getting away with this activity much longer.

Russell - I disliked JessieII at the beginning. All he did was be mister muscle man and super glue himself to Jessie. But the last few days he's shown he has depth and he's reached out to get to know the other HGs. He could be a contender.

So, I'm off to watch the feeds for a bit then I'll be back to blog tonights show. Or maybe I'll be back a bit before then to watch another show from last night. We'll see.
